Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 August 2026
This website is run by Zaskia Zonya Coetzee (“Zaskia,” “I,” or “we”), an author based in South Africa. Your privacy matters to me. This policy explains what personal information I collect, why, and what you can do about it. I aim to handle your information in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and, for readers in Europe and the UK, the GDPR.
What I collect
- Newsletter & free poem: when you sign up, I collect your email address (and your name, if you give it).
- Contact form: your name, email address, and the message you send.
- Book purchases: if you buy an ebook, payment is handled by my checkout provider. Your card details go directly to them and are never seen or stored by this website. I only receive confirmation of your order and the email address needed to deliver your book.
- Basic technical data: like most websites, my host records standard server information (such as approximate location and browser type) to keep the site running and secure.
How I use it
- To send you the free 30-day devotional journal and occasional notes, if you subscribed.
- To reply to your message when you use the contact form.
- To deliver and support any book you order.
- To keep the website working, safe, and improving.
I will only use your information for the reasons above. I do not sell your personal information to anyone, ever.
My lawful basis
I rely on your consent when you subscribe to the newsletter (you can withdraw it any time), and on the need to respond to you or fulfil an order you’ve placed. You are never required to give more than you’re comfortable with.
Who I share it with
I use a small number of trusted service providers to run this site. They only receive what they need to do their job, and only to serve you:
- Payhip — processes ebook payments and delivers your download securely.
- MailerLite — stores my newsletter list and sends the free poem and updates.
- Takealot — if you order a physical book through their store, their own privacy policy applies to that purchase.
- Vercel — hosts the website.
Some of these providers are based outside South Africa, so your information may be processed abroad. I only use reputable providers that commit to protecting your data.
Cookies
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. The checkout and newsletter providers above may set cookies that are necessary for their features to work when you use them. If I ever add website analytics, I’ll update this policy first.
How long I keep it
I keep newsletter details until you unsubscribe, contact messages for as long as needed to help you, and order records as required for tax and bookkeeping. After that, I delete or anonymise them.
Your rights
You have the right to ask me to see, correct, or delete the personal information I hold about you, to object to how I use it, and to unsubscribe from emails at any time (every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link). To make any of these requests, just email me at pagesbyzaskia@gmail.com. I’ll respond as promptly as I can.
Security
I take reasonable steps to protect your information and work only with providers who do the same. No website can promise perfect security, but I treat your details with care.
Children
My books are written for children, but this website and its sign-up forms are intended for adults (parents, grandparents, teachers, and readers). I don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given me their details, please contact me and I’ll remove them.
Changes to this policy
If I update this policy, I’ll change the “last updated” date at the top. Significant changes will be made clear.
